D&H MUSIK THE FRENCH VIBES

Mensaje  lilibuth el Dom Mayo 02, 2010 8:40 pm

D&H 10 questions

1. Tell People who Daddy and Hypa is?

Daddy and Hypa aka D&H Remix aka D&H!!! We are 2 french sound engineers, producers, Djs and of course remix makerz. We are working with a lot of reggae/dancehall artists, labels and Djs from all around the world. We also are members of the Shadyville Caribbeans Djs and the Top Gunners Fraternity.

2. How did Daddy and Hypa from France become such big supporters of reggae/dancehall music?

A long story star!!! We started in 97 as musicians in a reggae backing band (Daddy at Drums and Hypa at percussions). We quickly started to compose our own riddims and so build our own studio. At the beginning we were inspired a lot by the jamaican 70’s/80’s music. In 2001 we launched our radio show broadcasted on air every week. The show was promoting jamaican music from the 70s to the latest releases. That’s how we became big reggae/dancehall fans and start pree the whole jamaican music and culture. In the mean time we also were listening a lot of US Hip Hop and RnB stuff and use to play remixs blending jamaican and american music. Furthermore we were also listening to all Chinese Assassin mixcds and it was just a matter of time before we decide to create our own remixs.

3. Besides remixes, have u ever produce original tracks?

Yes, as we said before we were building riddims and work for french artists (Keefaz, Messalie, Kenyon, Tiwony…) before making any remixs but the list is too long to name them all. We have produced riddims and tracks featuring artists like Konshens and Delus, Kari Jess, Hitmaker, Mr Vegas, Chukki Starr and a lot more… Lately we rebuild an instrumental produced by Black Temple Records (Try To Conquer I Riddim) featuring Johnny Osbourne, Shinehead and Carl Meeks…

4. Whats the hardest song u ever come across to remix perfectly.

Whoyyyy, hard question, you know sometimes we spend crazy time to find the right instrumental for an acapella or the right acapella for an instrumental and find nothing good, in the other hand sometimes its just takes 5 minutes to have THE IDEA.
From we find the idea…. its all about make it fit proper and hide all likkle defaults wid a magic touch…. Technically, Our “Gangsta Remix” featuring Mavado, Vybz Kartel and Delus was pretty hard to build becoz it was impossible to find the instrumental (G Unit/Movado “Let It Go”), we had to build it from the song !!!!! Another example is the Kanye West Sizzla “Stronger” because it was very long to make sizzla’s vocal fit perfectly with the riddim… Same for the Lollipop Remix (crazy editing on the vocals) or Knock You Down Remix. We could mention a lot… There’s no easy remixs with D&H !!!!

5. when did u start remixing tracks?

LOL: 2007!!!! We started makin remixs for our radio show to have exclusive joints to play and went to a higher level after we linked with “Mixcds Kings” Chinese Assassin. First was Konshens “Monster Remix” and then “Guess who’s technologic?”!!!!!

6. Bout remixs, I heard you also work for sound systems?

Yes a lot, we sellin our services to Djs and Soundsystem mixing and remixing dem dubs. But you know the soundsystem peoples… its top secret work!!! So yuh dun kno maybe you favorite sound already works with D&H!!!!

7. How do u choose ur projects remixes? Mix cd?

For the remixs 2 possibilities : The first thing is anytime we feel a song could be good for a remix, we checking in our HUGE acapellas/instrumentals collection and try to work it out. Then It’s all about family and links, mostly with the singers/producers/labels we working with. Bout the mixcds , we just making some to promote our skills and our artists.

8. Notice you feature konshens alot – whats the connection?

Because of our radio show we met him thru myspace in 2006… we straight rated the style and send him some riddims and build a real connection! A so di ting set !!!! beginnning of 2008 we went to Sherlock (Kingston-JA) and he’s one of those who really brought we inside the jamaican music business. From that time we never stop working with him and his brother Delus producing, mixing and remixing songs for them and Konshens Label : SubKonshusMusic. SUBKONSHUS/SOJAH/D&H A MAAAAD TEAMMMM !!!!!

9. How does the french relate to dancehall music in your words?

A long time the reggae and dancehall movement touched France (80’s), we have nuff singers, producers and soundsystem mostly playing reggae but the dancehall massives growing a lot now.

10. Whats next for D&H , what shoould the people look forward to?

BAGGA TINGS !!!!!! From summer 2009 we had our official studio mixing company, so you can expect a lot with that, for instance, as engineers we’re mixing actually the new Barrington Levy song called “Murderer” featuring Snoop Dogg and Mims for Platinum Camp Prod$, we’re also mixing the remix of Konshens “Realest Song” featuring Bounty Killer…As producers, we soon gonna release some reggae and dancehall riddims (Mellow Riddim and Start Wine Riddim) and singles with artists of the team. As Djs, the next project the people can look forward to is a Mixcd featuring the 3 Shadyvilles Caribbean Djs from Europ : DJ Septik (Belgium), DJ Waxfiend (Holland) and D&H. Of course we will keep on remixing and sharing the hottest chunes on our website so check it out !!!!
